No one else is going to fix the problems we see in America. The ever increasing debt. The ever decreasing liberty we are experiencing. The attack on our rights. Bigger government and the continual additions of regulations is making it harder for Americans to be financially independent. Increased taxes, new taxes and fees hurting working Americans. Invasion by illegals continuing on and being supported by our government. What can YOU do?
You can only do the work of one person. Get educated. Speak the truth. Support those people and organizations that are doing good things in your community or state. Do not tolerate lies that lead to more government tyranny and oppression. If someone asks “Should the government” stop them right there and say no.
One tactic that needs to be employed is asking the question “Is this Constitutional?”. If the federal government or any of its myriad agencies passes laws, regulations or guidelines the FIRST question should be is this constitutional? That is the basis for legitimate power coming out of Washington DC. Is it constitutional. To know the answer a working knowledge of the Constitution is vital. The good news? The Constitution of the United States of America is one of the shortest constitutions ever written and is clear in its meaning. It was written for the average person. For today’s publicly educated crowd I suggest Hillsdale College’s free online courses (http://online.hillsdale.edu/dashboard/courses) on the Constitution which will put you ahead of 97% of the people out there. It will provide a much needed perspective on the Constitution and the reasoning behind some of its ideals. I suggest Constitution 101 to begin. It is VERY empowering to have a deeper understanding of the Constitution that can be provided by sources like Hillsdale.
Getting educated is only the start. Then it is time to steer dialogue toward the truth. As an American I feel the need, the duty, to protect our way of life. It is my conjecture that the ONLY reason we are as prosperous and free a country as we have been is because of the Constitution. We decided as a people that we could rule ourselves but needed a central authority for specific duties. And when I say the Constitution, I mean in no little part the Bill of Rights. That is the sentinel that needs protecting. The constitution merely states how government is supposed to work so as to protect the rights of the people, which by the way is the primary job of the federal government we created.”To protect these rights, governments are instituted among men, driving their just power from the consent of the governed.”
Which brings me to another point. In defending the Constitution and constitutional values, it is important to be familiar with the supporting documents. The Declaration of Independence, for instance is very relevant to our Constitution. Realize that the Constitution is a compact- a fancy word for a contract between sovereign entities. The original intent is the ONLY way to interpret the document. The original meaning of the writers is contained in many publications. The Federalist Papers is a great source where Madison, Hamilton and Jay wrote a series of 85 papers detailing different aspects of the then new Constitution which they supported for ratification. There is nothing new about the arguments surrounding the Constitution. The supremacy clause. The Commerce clause. The necessary and proper wording. The enumerated powers. The general welfare stipulation contained in the Preamble. It was all written about and explained. Great ammunition to refute the socialist idiot spouting his or her inanity.
YOU have to be active. Nobody else is going to do the work that is needed from you. When you are on social media sites- don’t be silent. When you go to different meetings or are around other parents if you have kids- don’t be silent. At work. Wherever you are. It doesn’t mean be obnoxious or rude. Just make sure that the truth is being put out there. If you are not that socially active then it may mean financially supporting an organization or candidate for office. That is also valid support.
Do not vote out of fear. Vote your conscience. YOU are the solution. Do not forget that.
Join me at Constitutional Cappuccino to get plugged into a website that is all about the education Americans need to move our country back to its proper trajectory. My new book “Patriot Ammo: The Words Behind Our Flag” is also available and teaches of our founding documents and principles. The book would make a great present for anybody 16 and up.
