Tyranny in Orlando

On December 6th a grave injustice was perpetrated by our own government against two men exercising their right to free speech. Mark Schmidter and Julian Heicklen were arrested for trespassing on the sidewalk in front of the Orange County Courthouse thus violating an administrative order by Judge Belvin Perry. Their crime? Passing out a handout from the Fully Informed Jury Association (FIJA) helping to educate potential jurors to their duties as a juror. Both men had been previously arrested for this “crime”. I know personally that Mark Schmidter served over 100 days in jail for his last interaction with Belvin Perry. I applaud both gentlemen for putting their personal liberty aside and doing what is right. They knew they were going to get arrested. This is most likely just the start of an agenda to expose this kind of blatant disregard for our rights and to further the cause of FIJA though I have not confirmed that with either of the men. I do know that Mark is a thorn in the side of the court system here in Orange County and has taken them to task on a couple different occasions.

In honor of these two men’s struggle, I wish to help the cause they are fighting for and tell the story of FIJA and why it is so important. Many people say “well what can one person do to make a difference?” Being an informed juror is one of the answers to that question.

As articulated in Article 3, the 6th and 7th Amendments of the Constitution everybody has the right to a trial by jury in any significant court proceeding. Significant describes any criminal case and any civil case whose value exceeds $20. This supports the idea that we the people are in control of justice. Congressmen and government can pass whatever laws they want. It is juries that determine the guilt or innocence of the people who go to trial.

FIJA describes the role of a jury as follows:

“The primary function of the independent juror is not, as many think, to dispense punishment to fellow citizens accused of breaking various laws, but to protect fellow citizens from tyrannical abuses of power by government.

The Constitution guarantees you the right to a trial by jury. This means that government must bring its case before a jury of The People if government wants to deprive any person of life, liberty or property. Jurors can say no to government tyranny by refusing to convict.”

FIJA works to:

  • Inform potential jurors of their traditional, legal authority to refuse to enforce unjust laws
  • Inform potential jurors that they cannot be required to check their consciences at the courthouse door
  • Inform potential jurors that they cannot be punished for their verdicts
  • Inform everyone that juror veto- jury nullification- is a peaceful way to protect human rights against corrupt politicians and government tyranny.

Jury nullification is nothing new. In response to the 18th Amendment, jury nullification became a tool to stop the tyranny of the federal government. People who were plainly guilty of selling alcohol in defiance of the 18th were regularly not convicted by juries for their flouting of the law. There was nothing that government could do. Jury nullification played a big part in the passage of the 21st Amendment which repealed the 18th Amendment.

Another case of jury nullification crushing government tyranny was the people’s opposition to the Fugitive Slave laws passed by Congress. In two separate cases, the Shadrach Rescue Trials and the Jerry Rescue trials, abolitionists who were brought to trial for rescuing slaves and helping them to escape their owners were acquitted by juries. They clearly had broken the “law”‘ but jurors decided that the laws were unjust and refused to convict.

Here in Florida we just passed a constitutional amendment allowing medical marijuana to be distributed to patients. Many others, including myself, want to stop putting people in cages for using a plant. Jury nullification could do exactly that. Ant crime that lacks a victim is not a crime. Government trying to protect people from themselves is just another way that government controls our lives.

We the people wield significant power to curb government tyranny. No matter what laws are on the books it takes a jury to send a person to prison or to take their property. It is up to we the people to take our rightful place in this republic and reject government tyranny. Jury nullification is a major avenue to do just that. FIJA could use your support. Let’s not make Mark Schmidter and Julian Heicklen’s sacrifice be in vain. Get educated and get active. Liberty will not defend itself and needs true Americans to step up and support it. Do it for the people alive today and the unborn millions who depend on us to pass on the freedoms that were bequeathed to us. Patriots Awake!


Charter Amendment 2 : Just say NO Orange County

We are about to do a bad thing here in Orange County. We have those that have proposed that we the people begin to give up control over the Sheriff of our County by allowing his free constitutional status to be abrogated by making them a charter officer.

The proposed Charter Amendment

Changing County Constitutional Officers to Charter
Officers and Providing for Nonpartisan Elections and
Term Limits Amending the Orange County Charter to make the
Sheriff, Tax Collector, Property Appraiser, Supervisor of
Elections, Clerk of Circuit Court, and Comptroller into
nonpartisan, elected charter officers subject to term limits
of four consecutive 4-year terms, abolishing their status
as constitutional officers, and specifying they are not
subject to county commission or mayoral authority and
shall have all rights and privileges of corresponding
constitutional officers, except as expressly provided by
charter. No financial impact.

No financial impact. Plenty of impact as to the direction of government here in Orange County. I will discuss the position of Sheriff and why it is bad to take away his constitutional status. As you read, you can see how bringing the Tax collector, Property Appraiser, Supervisor of Elections, Clerk of the County Court and especially Comptroller who dispenses all of the monies for county activities under one big umbrella consolidates power which is not good for the citizens of Orange County. I will focus on the Sheriff because that position is the most important to protecting our rights here in Orange County.

Please understand that the idea of a Sheriff is a very old idea. Once is was a tool of oppression but when it came under the control of the people it became a force for good. The direction that is being advocated with this charter amendment is detrimental to the long term security and freedom we enjoy as Floridians living in Orange County. The Sheriff is elected and works directly for the people. He is the highest law of the county. He answers directly to the people. We need to keep it that way.

The history of the Sheriff is many centuries old. The first written record of the Sheriff dates back to the reign of King Alfred in the 9th century. The King restructured the kingdom into “shires” and appointed “reeves” to administer his will on his subjects. These shire reeves eventually became to be known as the Sheriff.

It is interesting to note that when King John of England was forced to sign the Magna Carta in 1215, the document which introduced many concepts that were incorporated into the United States Constitution over 500 years later, that the “Sheriff” is mentioned 27 times (out of 63 clauses) in the document, and the powers of the crown to use him against the people was curtailed and defined.

When the idea of the Sheriff was brought to our shores in America, it was a lot closer to today’s idea of the Sheriff. Gone was the allegiance to the power of the state (or monarchy) but instead the allegiance was to the people who elected them. Thomas Jefferson described a Sheriff as ” the most important executive offices of the country”. High praise from a respected man.

The Sheriff in no uncertain terms is the highest law enforcement authority in his/her county. The Sheriff is elected by the people and charged to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States and that of their own state. That is their duty and they are responsible directly to the people to perform that duty. The are the law of the county.

The Sheriff’s responsibility is to protect the constitutional rights of its citizens from wherever that encroachment occurs. Most people rightly attribute crime fighting to the Sheriff. That is a major responsibility. But the Sheriff’s responsibility does not end there. If ever a citizen of a county has their constitutional rights violated by any representative of the government, the first line of defense to this intrusion if the Sheriff. If an arrest is to be made in a county, the Sheriff has the right to be informed before the arrest is made in his/her county. The Sheriff should determine that the arrest is proper, and was properly adjudicated through the courts. Our federal government is having a much higher tendency to skip due process and render judgements which are unconstitutional.

In New Mexico, Sheriff Scott London of Eddy County notified the IRS that the sale of county resident Kent Carter’s property was canceled until he received due process of law and his appeal was heard. Yes, he successfully told the IRS “no”! Sheriff Richard Mack of  Graham County Arizona was instrumental in the ruling Printz vs. United States in which parts of the Brady Bill were ruled unconstitutional. In Indiana, a farmer who produced raw milk was harassed by the FDA. They conducted warrantless searches of his property and even subpoenaed him to produce production records until Sheriff Brad Rogers interposed after inspecting the farm. He wrote the FDA a letter that stated they needed a signed court order and to get his permission before they visited the farm again. After that, a court date was cancelled and the farmer received no more inspections by the FDA. These are just a few cases that the Sheriff was involved in upholding their constituent’s rights.

The proposal to the Charter will be represented as a term limits amendment. The idea that moving the officers under a charter will be downplayed. “Nothing will change” they will say. “This will make the offices more accountable” they will say. It is true not much would change initially. But this move has a purpose. The charter can be changed and the roles of these officers circumscribed however the charter dictates. This is a move for future mischief. We the people directly control these offices. That is a check and balance built into our system. Don’t destroy another protection of the people by allowing this to pass.

Think of it like this. Do we want to move toward a Sheriff of Nottingham which performed the wishes of the Crown and oppressed the people or Sheriff Mack who successfully fought the government to protect the rights of his constituents? We can stop it easily by voting no on Charter Amendment 2.

Don’t fall for the gimmicks. Vote NO on Charter Amendment 2. Say no to big government control now and for the future.

2016 Elections: The Silver Lining

What if I told you that the 2016 elections could go down as a seminal moment in our country? That this election could be recorded  in the history books as a turning point in modern day American politics? It is my contention that if more people were true to themselves and voted their conscience then some good could come out of this election cycle. We the people can start to turn the needle back toward the path of liberty and prosperity. Some have realized this path but many deny the truth before their very eyes.

The two party monopoly we witness in this country is the largest impediment we face as a nation. Breaking this monopoly is one of the ways to stop the lawlessness we have witnessed issuing from Washington DC (District of Corruption). The democrats and republicans are very much like Coke and Pepsi. They are self avowed “competitors”. They offer different products that are almost the same with just a little difference of taste and packaging.  They may “oppose” each other but each supports the other so they both can remain on top. Look at supermarket soft drink rotation and placement. Neither wants to eliminate the other because they both recognize that they can prosper and continue to prosper by eliminating unvetted competition and keeping both their products prominent. A new major player could upset the balance. The same theory is applicable to the republicans and democrats.

This is what we have been witnessing in our national politics.

Democrats have moved so far toward socialism that describing them as liberals is disingenuous. Limited constitutional government? Pelosi would burst into flames if she was made to utter these words. Democrats have aligned themselves with Alinsky and Marx. They follow a playbook that has been described to us over a century ago. It includes racial division, economic division, gun control, creating debt, creating government dependence, control of education, attacks on religion, and controlling healthcare. Sounds like they have been busy and pretty successful. This plan has been implemented for over a century now and we are seeing the endgame emerge. The big problem is no one politically is opposing these unconstitutional changes.

It is my contention that the republicans are the water carriers for the democrats these days. They have capitulated and supported leftist policy openly and brazenly as of late. Obamacare. Sanctuary cities. Common Core. The budget. We get promises. We hear excuses. Society continues to move away from prosperity and freedom and move toward poverty and dependence.

Why do we still have Obamacare? The latest news is very damning. Some people’s premiums are going to go up over 100%. Most are expected to rise by at least 20%. This is anything but “Affordable”. The republicans have had control of the House for 5 years now and could have defunded it at any time. It would have been a political fight but they have every constitutional right to present any budget they want. Understand what the power of the purse is. Any previous bill passed by Congress that becomes law is susceptible to future Congresses. If the present Congress does not fund something, then it disappears. It is that simple. It is that powerful. Now there is always political fallout but this defunding is easily accomplished. The reason that we still have Obamacare is because republicans like it. It is an easy way to “differentiate” themselves from democrats. Their lack of action shows their lack of integrity and what I suggest- their collusion with democrats.

Ask yourself how did we double the national debt when we had a republican Congress for the last 5 budgets? Along those same lines why did republicans pass a continuing resolution this year which ends after the elections and is subject to a lame duck session of Congress to handle? A logical reason would be to take the responsibility for passing a budget off of the current Congress so neither side can be criticized for their decisions. A December vote can be manipulated so both sides can claim victor, not that anyone pays attention to politics right before Christmas. Especially after an election year such as we have seen.

Along the same lines as above, why do we still have an illegal immigration problem and why are sanctuary cities still getting federal funding? Why is common Core still funded and the Department of Education still in existence? Is that collusion I smell or has a donkey and elephant been murdered, left to rot and replaced with a rat and a tapeworm? Neither party at this point even pretends to uphold and support the Constitution. Their oath to office is a mere formality to pick up a check. Americans used to care. Real Americans still do.

Democrats have splits among many in their base. It seems that Hillary’s corruption in this primary season, the constant unfurling of revelations about her attitudes towards many of her voting demographics and the support by the highest levels of the democratic party to fix the primary has further aggravated those divisions.  The constant anti-gun, anti-Constitution, and pro big government stance the democrats have adopted has led many  good, true liberals to question their support of the democratic party.  The revelations being exposed by wikileaks when it comes to Hillary and her circle of corruption is not helping democrats either. These revelations may not swing the election, but if she is elected they will be like a little sprout that will grow into a large redwood that will be used as fuel to make her presidency even less effective than her history in public office would suggest. Scandal will follow her like stink a skunk. And rightfully so. Hillary is the most corrupt person to ever run for the office of the presidency.

The republicans have had problems for a while as they have turned their backs on the Constitution and conservatives. Boehner and McConnell were the epitome of what conservatives considered wrong with the party. Eric Cantor, majority leader was primaried. Boehner resigned but not before passing a very pro-Obama budget. Now we have the Ryan paradigm. He is no better that what was in place previously. Republicans elected a republican House and Senate in 2014 in a landmark election yet STILL nothing significant was addressed. Then came the Trump fiasco.

Trump has come out against the Constitution on many occasions. In the first debate Trump agreed with Hillary that people on a no fly list should not be able to purchase guns. That is against the 2nd and 5th Amendments. Trump has repeatedly said that state boundaries are “imaginary lines” when talking about healthcare. That is against the very fabric of the Constitution and its status as a compact. Speaking of Healthcare, Donald has stated his opposition to Obamacare but not because it is unconstitutional. He wants a true government run single payer healthcare system. Go to youtube and you too can see where in a 60 Minutes interview Donald says “The governments going to pay for it but we are going to save so much money on the other side” Trump only opposes Obamacare because it didn’t go far enough. Trump is another in a long line of big government progressives who thinks if he is in control then he can make government work for the people. He has no interest in abiding by his oath to office. No real American can vote for him either.

So now the silver lining part.

Breaking the two party monopoly we are witnessing is one of the most effective ways to get our government under control again. The monopoly must be broken for our republic to survive. Donald Trump and Hillary are the exclamations points to that statement. They exemplify what happens as we continue to vote for the lesser of two evils. But there are other choices. Do not let fear or charlatans tell you anything else.

Darrell Castle of the Constitution Party is a viable choice. The Party’s stance is simple- -uphold and defend the Constitution. They have a solid constitutional base for their beliefs. Any American who support their party can sleep well at night knowing the vote they cast was righteous and moving America in the direction of freedom and independence once again.

The Libertarians are also a viable choice. Yes, I understand that Gary Johnson is not a good candidate and definitely not a good representative of the Libertarian Party. If you were to look into the principles of the Libertarians, you would find a deeply rooted belief in the Constitution espousing principles written about and supported by men like Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. It is my belief that Gary is there to sabotage the Libertarian movement this election by doing exactly what he is doing. It is not some great conspiracy. It is just Gary. He is not a Libertarian yet he got the nomination because of his popularity and celebrity among the libertarian elite. A true libertarian who understands and can articulate the non-aggression principle that the Libertarian Party is built upon would be enjoying phenomenal success this cycle. Unfortunately, we have Gary instead.

There is one more person I wish to speak about. Evan McMullin. Do not be fooled by his slick performance. Evan is an establishment shill. His stated purpose is to throw the election to the House of Representatives. Last time I checked the House of Representatives was populated by republicans and democrats. How is he anybody but a person supporting the status quo, namely the republican and democrat monopoly? He represents no party. He promotes no one but himself which means any support he garners cannot carry past the man who started it. His true purpose is to blunt the rightful third party response this election cycle. Do not be fooled and do not be a fool.

Bottom line: The problems we face as a nation are over a century in the making. Their origins can be traced to Theodore Roosevelt and his successor Woodrow Wilson. Problems of this magnitude are not solved in a single election. They are probably not solved in a generation. The unlawful actions of our federal government must be stopped. Law must restored. Forget the idea that Washington DC is going to fix itself. That will not happen until their unsanctioned and unlawful implementation of power is reversed. That is for another article. Just realize that a vote for a third party this year is a vote to start making life better here in the United States. A vote for Castle or Johnson is a move back toward liberty and prosperity. Do not let fear of a candidate make you vote for someone just to oppose another. If you cannot support someone just don’t vote for anyone in that race.That is a much more honorable use of the vote than to support the lesser of two evils. It is time for Americans to be Americans. The ” land of the free and home of the brave” used to be more than just the ending to a song. Stand up for the Constitution. Stand up for America.

The Constitution IS America

THE reason that we have had the most prosperous and free country to ever grace the face of the earth is because of our Constitution. It was a revolutionary document which allowed the people to rule themselves by creating a federal government of specific enumerated powers. It formalized a way for government to be replaced regularly without the use of violence. Many others living outside of America when the Constitution was ratified had running bets as to how long the republic would last. We beat the odds and became the beacon of freedom for the world. The Constitution created America.

When we turn our backs on the Constitution we turn our backs on our country. If we allow the Constitution to be attacked we allow America to be degraded. We have a wildly out of control federal government that ignores the laws with impunity and tells us everything is all right. We the people have become complacent and through ignorance have allowed our creation to be our ruler. Government is a force. It needs to be constrained. It is much like fire. It can do many good things but left unattended it can harm and kill. Washington DC is out of control and unless we shackle the beast we will witness the dissolution of our country. Yes, it can happen here. We are not immune from the ravages of historical fact.

The ignorance about the “Law of the Land” is agonizing to witness. The Constitution is a relatively short document and can easily be read in under an hour. Most have not done so. It becomes apparent when interacting with them. Understand this: The Constitution is indeed the law of the land. NO local ordinance, federal regulation, executive order, treaty, state law, federal law, opinion or any other utterance by elected officials has superiority to what is written in the Constitution. If anything coming out of any government is in defiance of the clear and precise language of the Constitution of the United States it is by definition unconstitutional and void of relevance. That includes any branch of the federal government including the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court does not make law. They issue opinions. They also are humans and make mistakes and have human failings which make them fallible. They were created by the Constitution and to think they are the final arbiters of what is constitutional is another fallacy that needs to be dispelled if we are to remain a free nation. If you think that the Supreme Court is the final arbiter of what is constitutional then you give the federal government unlimited power to do what it wants which is exactly what we have been witnessing. It must end.

Realize that there are enemies to our country who live among us. They are working toward a socialist form of government which is diametrically opposed to freedom and what this country was founded upon. They continually push for bigger and more intrusive government in out lives. They dismiss the Constitution as an outdated document that needs to be rewritten, replaced or just ignored. What is unfortunate is that through patriot’s inaction we have allowed a whole generation of Americans to be taught of the faults of this country and none of the grandeur we have accomplished. Our country had been reduced to slavery and oppression in the eyes of many. We have to date lost the battle of education. That must also change for us to survive as a free nation.

George Washington said it best :

A primary object should be the education of our youth in the science of government. In a republic, what species of knowledge can be equally important? And what duty more pressing than communicating it to those who are to be the future guardians of the liberties of the country? ”

No truer words have been spoken and the enemies of our country HAVE learned this lesson. We need to support the truth and educate our children in this truth. We cannot rely on the schools to do this. We need to take this task to heart and act accordingly.

It is up to YOU to do something. No one else is going to do your job for you. I realize the teachings of history. The majority is not who makes changes. Changes come when a minority of the people with a majority of the will demands and makes the change. The rest of the people just follow along. It is unfortunate but it is the truth. I am talking to a small minority of people, probably in the 5% range. We must make the changes needed for our country to survive. Make no mistake, I am talking about our survival here. We are moving toward a precipice that will engulf us in tyranny and end our nation as we know it.

So what can you do? First get educated. Do not rely on others to tell you what is in the Constitution. Read and study it yourself. There are many resources to get this knowledge. Reject the idea that the Constitution is a “living” document or it is irrelevant in our modern times. Those two arguments are easily dispelled by the educated person.

The Constitution is a compact between sovereign states to create a federal government. Compact means contract. This “contract” is still in force and is still as relevant as when it was written. It has a specific meaning and its interpretation is not subject to modern day ideals.”

Use as much original documentation as you can find for this education. The Federalist Papers, historical writings between our founders and the actual document are all you need to be way ahead of most people when it comes to understanding the meaning and relevance of the Constitution. Read about the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. Madison, Jefferson, Hamilton, Jay. Martin, Henry, Adams, Washington, and others of the era depict exactly what our Constitution is all about. I say use original documents because there is plenty out there which is written on the subject and is not accurate of the true meaning of the Constitution. Most Americans have been lied to about what is contained in our founding document. Education is the cornerstone of liberty.

When you do get educated spread the truth far and wide. Liberty lives in the hearts of man and can be rekindled by support of the idea. Speak boldly. Speak the truth. Inspire others to do the same. As things get worse in our country more people start questioning the status quo and want answers. Be able to give them the correct answers. This will lead to a better understanding of the principles this country was founded upon and lead to better results in all things. With a proper education we can identify the true problems in this country and take effective action to combat those problems. Candidates who understand the Constitution will gain more support and we can start to populate our local and state governments with patriots and statesmen once again. The conversation of the day will once more turn to politics and through this dialogue we will find liberty.

Understand what is at stake. We have been left the precious present of liberty that was  gained by the blood and suffering of many before us and are obligated to pass that down to future generations. Our country was a true miracle in its birth. So many things were against us yet we pushed through them and became a nation. Miracles do not happen with regularity. That is why they are a miracle. Do not forsake that miracle because you depended on someone else to do the work. YOU are part of the solution. Not anyone else. Do not doom our children and countless millions of others to follow to have to fight and die once again for something that we let slip away.

Voting for Tyranny

In the first debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump one thing became clear- neither is right for occupying the White House.How can either be the right choice when both oppose the Constitution? How can they take the oath to office without the Bible bursting into flames?

Hillary made a remark supporting the idea that people on no fly lists should not be able to purchase a gun. She attacked and repudiated the 2nd Amendment and the 5th Amendment to our Constitution with that simple statement. Then Trump agreed with her.

Understand what is at stake. They both agree that a secret list compiled by someone in government is enough to eliminate your right to keep and bear arms. We have this ideal in America that due process is important. That to circumscribe someone’s rights there is a process in place that must be followed to insure that our rights are protected.The 5th Amendment covers this explicitly.

“No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.”

How can the government legally determine that a person’s rights are negated without due process? It is the law of the land! How can they ignore that?

The government was NEVER tasked with determining if someone is guilty of a crime. That is why we have juries. Article 2 of the Constitution, the 5th, 6th and 7th Amendments all describe rights which we as Americans have that the government cannot ignore or infringe upon. A trial by jury is an inherent right under Common law and our Constitution. It is very simple. Government was never trusted to convict a citizen. That right was reserved for fellow Americans.

The 2nd Amendment is equally as clear. It states that the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. It doesn’t give us that right. Our rights come from our creator and our government was instituted to protect our rights. It merely states one of our inalienable rights which the government cannot infringe.

I don’t know about you but to me the Bill of Rights is very important. Taking a position against anything contained in them is a deal breaker. If you feel the need to vote for Trump or Clinton, realize that you vote against the 2nd Amendment. You also encourage and support the ever increasing police state in which we live. This is not the path toward liberty. It is the status quo which is an ever increasingly large government whose unconstitutional interference into our daily lives escalates everyday. Say no to this insanity. Do not vote for either of these two charlatans. You nation depends on you to make the right decision.

We Hold These Truths

Contrary to popular belief, the Bill of Rights does NOT give us any rights. Our rights do not come from government. Our rights are not given to us by our fellow man. Our rights come from our Creator. This was a founding principle of our country and seems to have been forgotten by many. “We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their CREATOR with certain INALIENABLE rights……” This was one of the revolutionary ideas that have propelled us into a leading role for liberty on this planet.

This is not semantics. This is the basis for many attacks on our rights and must be corrected. Take guns for instance- it is much easier for the gun grabbers to cite our 2nd Amendment rights than to say they want to infringe on our inalienable right to self defense. Instead of saying they want to restrict our God given rights, they take the position that they are merely “interpreting” a 200+ year old statement about guns. Or they say that the founders couldn’t imagine the progress we have made in firearms technology and we need “common sense” gun regulations. Or even more ludicrous that the rights given to us by the Constitution have limitations and are subject to the interpretations of some politically connected lawyers who wear black robes and sit in a fancy courtroom in Washington DC. All poppycock. The right to self defense is linked to the right to life and your unfettered ability to protect that life. Without that any other right you may possess is moot. Doesn’t matter that you have freedom of speech if you are dead. Goes for any other rights also. That is why the right to life is always listed at the top and why protecting that right is the most important.

So what does the Bill of Rights do? What is its purpose? Pretty much nothing other than to be a sentinel for the people indicating when government has exceeded its authority and is becoming tyrannical. It is a snapshot of some of our inalienable rights that government has NO authority to infringe upon. These rights we recognize have been fought for for over 900 years. Look up the 1100 Charter of Liberties. The Magna Carte. The Petition of Right of 1628. The Glorious Revolution and the Bill of Rights of 1689. These were all seminal moments in the pursuit of liberty. Our Bill of Rights and the thought that our rights are inalienable didn’t just occur. It was however boldly trumpeted by the colonists when they declared independence and it was codified into our Constitution.

So next time you see someone saying that our 2nd Amendment right to carry guns is being attacked or that our 1st Amendment right to free speech is under assault, just remind them where our rights come from. We used to understand that our rights are inalienable and are not granted by government but are supposed to be protected by government. It boggles the mind to think that this lesson is too hard to understand or if pointed out will be disputed. Get educated. Get active. Liberty is calling and wants to know if you are for or against her. Freedom is not free and is not a spectator sport. It requires action on your part. A piece of paper will not protect your rights. Only true Americans can do that.

Are you really American? 500 Words or Less

What is it that makes a person a true American? Is it being born on US soil? Is it waving the American flag and voting in elections? Is it eating apple pie and watching baseball? What is it that makes a person truly American?

I say it is upholding and defending the Constitution of the Unites States of America. Understanding that we the people are in charge of our own lives and that government was instituted to protect our rights. It is understanding that our rights do not come from other men or government but from our creator. It is realizing that the liberty we have created in this country is the MOST precious gift we leave to future generations. It is understanding that the only reason our country has been as free and prosperous a nation as we have been is due almost exclusively to the Constitution and the ideals it espouses. The Bill of Rights is our inheritance and we must bequeath it unharmed to future generations.

Being a true American is about defending the principles of the Constitution from attack and perversion. Being a True American is realizing that government has a role in our lives but presently is the cause of most of our problems as a nation.Being a true American is actively fighting the forces which are attacking the foundations of our republic. We now have avowed socialists, communists and their adoring ignorant sycophants in our society who are doing everything in their power to destroy the Constitution, attack American traditions and history,  and tear down the traditional institutions which have made us a prosperous nation. They are the enemies of freedom and liberty and need to be treated as such. The parchment of the Constitution is NOT enough to protect us from tyranny. It takes people defending those values and passing them on which will keep us free.

Get educated. Get involved. Speak and defend the truth. You will make enemies but more importantly you will attract liberty loving friends. You cannot rely on others to fight this for you. YOU must get involved. I will not belabor the point but will leave you with a quote which has the solution within.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing“.

It’s All About Liberty- Time for Americans to Act Like Americans Again

The only reason that we have been such a prosperous and free nation as we have experienced is because of the Constitution of the United States of America. As we move away from those ideals we see the results. Prosperity has been replaced with poverty. Freedom with dependence.

The solution is an easy one. Getting people to listen is the hard part. Too many snake oil salesmen over the years have burned too many. Pledges from both political parties have been broken too many times for them to be believed. It is time that the American people wake up and realize that it is they who will turn this country around- not politicians. If you think that the presidential election is going to change anything then you are lying to yourself. Washington needs to abide by the Constitution. It will never do that on its own.

Understand that our federal government is way out of control. Thanks to a many years of prosperity and people disengaging from the political process the incremental takeover of our government is nearing completion.

Woodrow Wilson really started the push for what we see today with the 16th Amendment (taxation), the 17th Amendment (direct election of Senators) and the creation of the federal reserve. The idea that administration needed to be separated from politics began under Wilson and is what we see today in Washington DC- A multitude of agencies that are ever increasingly controlling the day to day lives of all American. That is NOT the purpose of our government. No regulation without representation.

There are many ideals that this country was founded upon. Three ideas stand at the top. They are the reasons for the success of this country. They were revolutionary to many when introduced, eventually became the benchmark for liberty, and are currently under attack.

Our rights come from our Creator. We do not get rights from other men. We do not get rights from government. Our rights are inherent. Our rights are inalienable. They come from our creator. Government doesn’t give them to us nor can they take them away.

To secure our rights we form governments. That is the ONLY reason we tolerate government. Governments are historically THE biggest violators of human rights but they are also needed to form societies that can protect their people’s interests. The federal government we formed was one of specific enumerated powers. These can be found in Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution. REALLY simple to understand. Once read you can see for yourself how far off of the constitutional path we have veered.

Government derive their just power from the consent of the governed. No one is born to be king. No one is ordained to be a leader of the people. The people decide who their leaders are going to be. Kings and monarchs do not lead toward liberty. Every form of government can be plagued by bad leadership and a republic is no different.  The difference is in our republic those choices come from the people. We are responsible for our future.

And when I say Constitution, I mean in no small part the Bill of Rights. The first 10 Amendments to the Constitution. The sentinel of our liberty. Those 10 amendments  which were not part of the original Constitution but were ratified 2 years after the fact. Those 10 little things which DO absolutely nothing but let us know when government is intruding into unwanted areas.  No rights are given by the Bill of Rights. The rights which were are enumerated are already ours. Remember from where our rights come.

If you are serious about doing something then take the time to get educated. At a bare minimum reread the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Those are the blueprint and proposal for what our country is all about. Neither will take more than an hour to read. They are the basis from where all arguments originate.

When the Declaration of Independence was written, a couple million people read it. When the Constitution was being ratified,most every American had read it so they could be relevant in the overwhelming conversation of the day. Both of these documents were written for the layman and have a clear and easily discernible meaning. No need to get lawyers involved.

It is time to reinvigorate these documents and unabashedly support and defend them once again. It is time people realize that the solutions to most problems we see today are contained in those two short documents. Stop being dependent on others to tell you what is right and proper. That is the reason we are at the precipice we are. Learn once again what it is to be an American. Freedom is not free. Liberty must be fought for.
